These Terms & Conditions (the "Terms") govern your access to and use of the website and APT package repository available at deb-free.griffo.io and any related services (together, the "Service"), operated by Dario Griffo ("I", "me" or "my"). By accessing, installing from, or otherwise using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

            In short: deb-free.griffo.io is an unofficial, free-forever
            repository that simply repackages and redistributes other people's
            open-source software. It requires no account, registration or authentication.
            I am not the author of that software. It is provided "as is", with
            no warranty, and I accept no liability for any
            problem, damage or loss arising from the software or from use of the Service.
        

1. About the Service

The Service is an unofficial APT repository. It takes existing third-party software — the "Upstream Software" — and rebuilds and redistributes it as Debian and Ubuntu packages (the "Packages") so that it can be installed and kept up to date through apt.

The Service is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Debian, Ubuntu, Canonical, or any of the authors or projects whose software is packaged. All product names, logos and trademarks are the property of their respective owners and are used for identification purposes only.

2. Free of charge, no account, free forever

The Service is provided free of charge. There is no subscription, no payment, and no fee of any kind for accessing or installing from deb-free.griffo.io.

The Service requires no account, registration, login or authentication of any kind. Anyone can add the repository and install Packages from it.
I am committed to keeping this mirror free forever. It is not a trial, promotion, or time-limited offer.
Your right to obtain, use and redistribute each Package is not something I grant you — it is guaranteed by that Package's own upstream open-source licence. The Service exists to make exercising that right convenient; it does not add to or take away from it.

3. What the free mirror serves

deb-free.griffo.io is a mirror, not a real-time feed. To keep it sustainable while remaining free forever, it follows a simple, predictable policy:

For each Package, the Service serves the newest upstream release that is at least two months old.
Security and patch fixes for the version currently served are published immediately, without waiting for the two-month window.
I do not guarantee the availability of any specific version, that every upstream release will appear on this mirror, or any particular timeline beyond the policy above.

If you need every upstream release within hours of publication, that is offered through the separate commercial repository described in section 9 below.

4. Third-party software — I only distribute other people's work

Every Package distributed through the Service is the work of its respective authors and copyright holders. I do not write, own, control or endorse the Upstream Software; I merely repackage it in a convenient format.

Each Package remains subject to its own upstream licence. Your use of any Package is governed by that licence, and by installing or using a Package you agree to comply with it.
I make no representation as to the origin, quality, safety, security, functionality, legality or fitness of the Upstream Software.
Any trademarks, names or branding contained in a Package belong to their respective owners.

5. No warranty

The Service and all Packages are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties or conditions of any kind, whether express, implied or statutory, to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law. This includes, without limitation, any implied warranties of merchantability, satisfactory quality, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy, or that the Service or any Package will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or free of viruses or other harmful components.

You are solely responsible for evaluating a Package's suitability for your purposes, for testing it, and for maintaining appropriate backups and safeguards before use.

6. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Dario Griffo shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, punitive or exemplary damages, or for any loss of data, profits, revenue, business, goodwill, or for any system damage or downtime, arising out of or in connection with:

your use of, or inability to use, the Service or any Package;
any defect, bug, vulnerability or malicious code in the Upstream Software or a Package;
any act or omission of an upstream author or third party; or
any interruption, suspension, modification or discontinuation of the Service.

You use the Service and any Package entirely at your own risk. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including any statutory rights you may have as a consumer, which are not affected by these Terms.

7. Your responsibilities

Comply with the applicable upstream licence of every Package you install or use.
Comply with all laws and regulations that apply to you, including any export or usage restrictions on the Upstream Software.
Do not use the Service to infringe the rights of any third party or for any unlawful purpose.
Do not attempt to disrupt, abuse, or gain unauthorised access to the Service or its infrastructure.

8. Availability and changes to the Service

The Service is provided on a best-effort basis. Beyond the commitment in section 2 to keep this mirror free forever, I do not guarantee any level of availability, uptime, or continued distribution of any particular Package, and I may add, change, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service (including any Package) at any time and without notice.

9. Related services — deb.griffo.io

A separate, commercial repository is available at deb.griffo.io, offering every upstream release shortly after publication rather than the delayed, free-forever policy described in section 3. That repository is a distinct service with its own Terms & Conditions, which govern it independently of these Terms. Using deb-free.griffo.io does not require, and is not affected by, any use of deb.griffo.io.

10. Intellectual property and takedown requests

I respect the rights of copyright and trademark holders. If you are a rights holder and believe that a Package infringes your rights or should not be distributed, please contact me (see below) and I will review and, where appropriate, remove the material promptly.

11. Changes to these Terms

I may update these Terms from time to time. The revised version will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date, and your continued use of the Service after any change constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

12. Governing law

These Terms and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with them or the Service are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Portugal, and are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Portuguese courts, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer-protection rights available to you under the law of your country of residence.
